Highlights of the SGP story so far…

2001

November – Adam Sells, a goalkeeper coach, previously with Charlton Athletic and, at the time, with Crystal Palace identifies the need for a high-end specialist goalkeeper brand. After distributing for French brand BGB and launching the Selsport brand, Adam Sells and Chris Tyler set up Sells Goalkeeper Products; a brand focussed on producing innovative and high performance gloves and accessories of the highest quality. An "S", a "G" and a "P" are bundled together to form a logo and the brand is born.

 

2002

February – Dean Kiely of Charlton wears the first pair of Sells gloves in a televised game against Middlesbrough.

March – Celtic crowned Champions of Scotland. Robert Douglas lifts the League Trophy in Sells gloves.

June – Sells gloves hit the shelves in the UK for the first time.

 

2003

January – US soccer specialist Eurosport become the first US retailer to stock Sells gloves. Goalkeeper Club and Torwart.de introduce the brand to France and Germany respectively.

May – Robert Douglas plays for Celtic against Porto in the Uefa Cup Final & Antti Niemi plays for Southampton in the FA Cup Final.

2004

March - Mark Schwarzer lifts the Worthington Cup for Middlesborough as they defeat Bolton.

May – Millwall's Andy Marshall faces Manchester United in the FA Cup Final.

June – Alex Kolinko plays for Latvia in Euro 2004.

July – Sells Benelux begin distribution of Sells products in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg.

August – 30% of the English Premier League, 50% of the Coca Cola Championship and 50% of the Scottish Premier League 'keepers kick-off the 2004/5 season in Sells gloves. In as little as 3 years, Sells Goalkeeper Products become the most popular brand amongst UK professional 'keepers.

 

2004

MAY – Jerzy Dudek lifts European Club Football's most glittering prize in Sells Gloves. Liverpool win the UEFA Champions League after staging an unbelievable comeback and holding their nerve in a penalty shootout.

In the same month, Sells keepers lift all three English playoff trophies and Ronald Waterreus lifts the Scottish Premier League title in Sells GLoves.
